Gambling should stay a paid form of entertainment with a fixed price. This page sets out practical habits that keep it that way and names the independent organisations you can turn to if it stops being fun. The eighteen-and-over restriction applies across this site and is repeated throughout it, including on the front page.
Help
Every page of this site, this one included, carries links to six independent gambling-help organisations:
- BeGambleAware
- Gamble Aware
- Gambling Therapy
- G GamCare Gambling Support: Starts Here
- GAM STOP
- NCPG
You will find these links on this page and on every other page of the site. Each one is an independent source of help, separate from this site and from any gambling operator.
Links
These six are the only outbound links on the site that are not commercial. The operator links carry a sponsored marking, and the help links do not. The help links are set to nofollow and open in a separate tab on the organisations' own websites. This site receives nothing when you follow one of them.
This site contains no advertising or behavioural profiling network, so nothing you see here is targeted at you because of how you have browsed or played.
Budget
Decide how much you will spend before you start, and treat that money as already spent. A number chosen in advance comes from a calm moment. A number chosen mid-session comes from excitement or frustration. If you think of the stake as the price of the evening, nothing that happens afterwards feels like money you have to win back.
Keep gambling out of borrowed money entirely. Credit, loans and money set aside for bills add a repayment that outlasts the session, so a loss becomes debt rather than the cost of entertainment.
Losses
Never chase a loss. Each bet is independent, so a run of losses does not make a win more likely. Raising stakes to recover only increases how much you can lose, usually at the point when your judgement is weakest.
Spending controls such as caps and timed breaks are arranged inside your own account at the operator you play with. This site has no account, no form and no server-side application, so nothing published here can switch such a control on, check it or enforce it.
Breaks
Take regular breaks away from the screen. Time passes quickly during play, and stepping away lets you check how long you have played and how much you have spent against the limit you set. If you feel reluctant to stop, treat that as a reason to stop.
Nobody's age is verified on this site, and no gambling takes place here. Any age check happens at the destination site you choose to visit.
Support
Involve someone else early, once gambling stops feeling like entertainment. Signs include hiding how much you spend, thinking about it constantly, or using it to escape stress. Someone you trust can see patterns you may miss and can help you stick to decisions you have made.
Talking to one of the organisations listed under Help is a reasonable first step at any stage. You do not need to wait until things feel serious.
